Frequently Asked Questions
What age groups do you work with?
Tejomaya works with children and young adults from early primary years through to the senior secondary level (NIOS). Programs are specifically adapted based on each child’s developmental and learning needs.
How do you assess my child’s learning needs?
The process begins with observation, interaction, and understanding the child’s current level. This identifies their strengths, challenges, and the most suitable educational approach.
Will my child follow a syllabus?
Yes, learning is aligned with the NIOS curriculum or foundational learning goals depending on the child’s level. However, the priority remains on understanding and application rather than just completing a syllabus.
How do you handle children who have very low confidence?
Confidence is built gradually by creating a safe, non-judgmental environment, assigning achievable tasks, and encouraging small successes. Trust is established before pushing for higher performance.
My child has difficulty focusing. Will they be able to cope?
Yes, the program supports focus through structured routines, movement-based learning, individual attention, and short, manageable learning segments.
Do you give homework?
Homework is kept minimal and purposeful. The primary focus is on quality learning during the sessions, with simple reinforcement activities at home only if required.
How do you track progress?
Progress is tracked through daily interaction, improvement in skills and engagement, and periodic feedback to parents . Success is measured academically as well as in confidence, behavior, and independence.
How often will I receive feedback about my child?
Parents receive regular updates through informal check-ins, scheduled discussions, and counseling sessions when necessary.
Can my child join both full-day and evening programs?
Yes, depending on the child’s needs and capacity. The centre guides parents on which combination is most effective without causing overwhelm.
What if my child takes more time to learn?
This is completely acceptable; each child’s pace is respected. Students are never rushed or compared to others.
Will my child become independent in learning?
Independence is a key goal. Over time, children begin to attempt tasks on their own, take responsibility for their learning, and show improved self-belief.
Do you prepare students for exams?
Yes, students are supported through concept clarity, practice, reinforcement, and specific exam readiness strategies without creating unnecessary pressure.
Can parents observe sessions?
To maintain a focused environment, regular observation is limited. Instead, parents are updated through discussions and feedback sessions.
What kind of environment can my child expect?
The environment is calm, structured, non-judgmental, and supportive . The focus is always on individual growth rather than comparison.
What if my child resists coming initially?
This is a common reaction. Children are helped to settle through a gentle introduction and the gradual building of trust in a comfortable environment.
Is Tejomaya suitable for children who are already doing okay in school?
Yes, especially the evening programs, which are open to all children and focus on skill-building, communication, confidence, and creativity.
